Software for trades and home service businesses
Before comparing features, notice which of these companies will tell you what they cost. Jobber, Housecall Pro and Roofr publish full pricing. ServiceTitan and FieldPulse publish plan names and a Request Pricing button, JobNimbus publishes plan names and seat bands with no dollar figures anywhere, and AccuLynx publishes neither prices nor plan names, only a lead form. Every listicle ranking for this category lines these tools up as though they were comparable on price. Half of them cannot be.
Research-led reviewThe author has not used this product. Built from public sources. What this means
The author has not used this product. Everything here comes from six public sources: the maker's own site, its pricing and refund terms, its changelog, its support forum, counted complaints across recent public reviews, and a like-for-like comparison against the nearest alternatives. We never claim experience we do not have.
Which badge a page carries is enforced in the site build, not just in editing. A page cannot use first-hand language unless it has declared itself a real-use review, so the badge and the writing cannot drift apart. The full method
We earn a commission if you buy through links on this page, at no extra cost to you.How this works
You pay exactly what you would pay going direct. The maker pays us a share of their margin, not a surcharge on you.
We are never paid for a positive verdict, no maker sees a review before it publishes, and we publish verdicts recommending against products we could earn from. Commission rates never influence which products we cover or how we rank them. Full disclosure
Independent comparison. We are an affiliate of some platforms named here. We do not speak for Jobber, Housecall Pro, Roofr, JobNimbus, AccuLynx, ServiceTitan, FieldPulse or HighLevel, and nothing on this page is an official statement by any of them. Figures come from each maker's own published pages on the date shown, and we correct them when they change.
The short version
- Four of the eight platforms compared here do not publish a price anywhere on their own site.
- Job management and lead follow-up are different products. Most buyers need both.
- Jobber and Housecall Pro charge per seat. A crew of five costs far more than the headline.
- We earn from GoHighLevel only, and it is not the answer for job costing or dispatch.

Two different jobs, sold as one category
The word CRM is doing too much work in this category, and it is why so many trades buy the wrong thing. There are really two products here.
| Type | What it does | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Job management | Quotes, scheduling, dispatch, job costing, invoicing, technician tracking | Jobber, Housecall Pro, AccuLynx, JobNimbus, Roofr |
| Lead follow-up | Catching enquiries, texting back missed calls, chasing quotes, asking for reviews | GoHighLevel and similar marketing platforms |
What we cover
Missed call text back
What it does, what it costs per message, and the limitation nobody selling it mentions.
Best roofing CRM
Roofr, JobNimbus, AccuLynx and the two that will not tell you what they cost.
Best CRM for contractors
Job management against lead follow-up, and which one your bottleneck actually is.
CRM for plumbers
Emergency work, missed calls on a job, and why the answer differs from roofing.
Roofing marketing
Where the leads come from, what they cost, and what to do with them when they arrive.
Jobber vs Housecall Pro
Identical at five users. Then the card processing rates decide it, and one of them has four.
Jobber pricing
Thirty-six published prices, two floors that push you up a tier, and one rate they do not publish.
Housecall Pro pricing
Three plans, a $100 sixth user, and why the advertised 2.59% is a floor rather than a rate.
Jobber review
Rated 4.2 and 4.6 on two platforms that usually disagree. The complaints are about depth, not billing.
Housecall Pro review
4.7 on Capterra, 2.5 on Trustpilot, same product. The negative reviews match its own terms.
Is Jobber a CRM?
Yes, and not the kind most people mean. The distinction that decides which software you need.
Housecall Pro alternatives
Only two of its rivals publish a price. Which one fits depends on why you are leaving.
Running an agency that serves trades rather than working in one? The platform comparison you want is in agency CRM platforms, where sub-accounts and white labelling decide it rather than job costing.
The lead follow-up half
Worth being precise about what this is and is not. GoHighLevel catches leads, texts back missed calls, chases quotes and asks for reviews. It does not do dispatch, job costing or technician scheduling, and if that is your bottleneck you want Jobber or Housecall Pro instead, neither of which pays us anything.

Common questions
What is the best software for a trades business?
It depends which problem is costing you money. For quoting, scheduling, dispatch and invoicing, Jobber and Housecall Pro publish clear pricing and are the usual answers. For catching leads and following up, a marketing platform like GoHighLevel does a different job. Most trades need both and buy only the first.
Why do some roofing software companies hide their prices?
Usually because pricing varies by company size or is negotiated. AccuLynx publishes neither prices nor plan names, and JobNimbus publishes plan names and seat bands with no figures. It is not necessarily a bad deal, but it does mean you cannot compare them without contacting them, and AccuLynx offers only a lead form or a call to sales.
Do I need a CRM if I already have job management software?
Only if leads are leaking. Job management software is good at what happens after somebody says yes. If your problem is missed calls, unquoted jobs or quotes nobody followed up, that is a different tool. If your problem is scheduling chaos, it is not.
How much does trades software cost?
Where it is published: Jobber from $29 a month annually at one user, Housecall Pro from $59 annually, Roofr free to $349 a month. Watch the seat maths, since Jobber and Housecall Pro both price by user: a crew of five is $149 on either, which is five times Jobber’s headline and more than twice Housecall Pro’s.
