Affiliate disclosure
Plainly Reviewed earns a commission when you buy through some of the links on this site. It costs you nothing extra, the price is identical to going direct, and commission never depends on whether a review is positive. We publish negative verdicts on products we could have earned from.
What an affiliate link is
When a link on this site takes you to a product and you buy it, the maker may pay us a percentage of that sale. You pay the same price you would have paid anyway. That commission is how the site funds the time it takes to research a product properly.
Where you will see it
A plain disclosure appears above the first affiliate link on every page that has one, not buried in the footer. Affiliate links are also marked in the page code so that search engines can identify them.
The rules we hold ourselves to
- No maker pays for a positive review, and none sees a review before it publishes.
- Commission rates never influence which products we cover or how we rank them.
- We publish verdicts recommending against products we have affiliate arrangements with.
- We do not claim to have used or tested any product. Our method is on the how we review page.
- We do not accept payment for placement in a comparison table or a category ranking.
Sponsored content
We do not currently publish sponsored posts or paid placements. If that ever changes, those pages will be labelled as advertising at the top, clearly and before the content, and they will be excluded from our comparison rankings.
Not advice
Everything on this site is general information for a buying decision. Nothing here is medical, legal or financial advice. Prices and terms change, so check the maker's own site before you buy.
Questions
If anything about how this site earns money is unclear, email hello@plainlyreviewed.com and we will answer plainly.
Common questions
Do I pay more if I use your links?
No. The price is identical to going direct. The maker pays us a share of their margin, not a surcharge on you.
Does earning commission change your verdicts?
No. Commission never depends on the verdict, and we publish negative reviews of products we have affiliate arrangements with.
Are all your links affiliate links?
No. Many links, including those to documentation, changelogs and public review platforms, earn us nothing. Affiliate links are marked in the page code and disclosed above the first one on the page.
Can a company pay to be ranked higher?
No. We do not accept payment for placement in comparison tables or category rankings.
