Comparison

Best CRM for contractors

Jobber advertises from $29 a month and Housecall Pro from $59, and both figures are for a single user. Jobber prices by plan and by seat tier at the same time, so Connect for five users is $149 a month annually rather than $99. Housecall Pro charges $100 a month for each user beyond the five included on Essentials. Work out your crew size before comparing anything.

Research-led reviewThe author has not used this product. Built from public sources. What this means

The author has not used this product. Everything here comes from six public sources: the maker's own site, its pricing and refund terms, its changelog, its support forum, counted complaints across recent public reviews, and a like-for-like comparison against the nearest alternatives. We never claim experience we do not have.

Which badge a page carries is enforced in the site build, not just in editing. A page cannot use first-hand language unless it has declared itself a real-use review, so the badge and the writing cannot drift apart. The full method

We earn a commission if you buy through links on this page, at no extra cost to you.How this works

You pay exactly what you would pay going direct. The maker pays us a share of their margin, not a surcharge on you.

We are never paid for a positive verdict, no maker sees a review before it publishes, and we publish verdicts recommending against products we could earn from. Commission rates never influence which products we cover or how we rank them. Full disclosure

Independent comparison. We are an affiliate of some platforms named here. We do not speak for Jobber, Housecall Pro or HighLevel, and nothing on this page is an official statement by any of them. Figures come from each maker's own published pages on the date shown, and we correct them when they change.

The short version

  • Both headline prices are sole-trader prices. Crew pricing is a different conversation.
  • Jobber stacks two variables, the billing term and the seat tier, on the same page.
  • Housecall Pro publishes a $25 non-refundable fee per chargeback, win or lose.
  • Neither is built to chase the leads you never converted. That is a separate tool.

The seat trap

$29 to $699is the full published range for Jobber, from Core at one user billed annually to Plus at fifteen users with no commitment. Every one of those figures is on the same pricing page, and the lowest one is what gets quoted.getjobber.com/pricing, checked 7 September 2026

Trades software is almost always priced per seat, which makes it the category where headline prices mislead most. A sole trader and a five-van operation are quoted the same starting figure and pay wildly different bills.

Jobber is the clearest example, because it varies two things at once. There are three billing terms, no commitment, one-year commitment and billed annually, and each plan is sold at up to four seat counts. Twelve plan and seat combinations across three terms is thirty-six published prices on one page, and the one that gets repeated everywhere is the cheapest cell in the grid.

Annual refundsBilled for the full term up front. Cancel mid-year and access continues to the end of the term, but the payment is non-refundable
Plan floorsCore is sold at 1 user only. Plus starts at 5 users
Note the two floors in that table. Core is sold at one user only, so the moment you hire anyone you are on Connect at minimum. And Plus does not start until five users. Those constraints move people up tiers more often than features do. Full breakdown, including the add-on prices Jobber's own pages disagree about, on Jobber pricing.

Jobber also publishes an add-a-user price of $29 a month alongside the seat tiers rather than instead of them. Both are real and they interact, so model your actual crew size on their page rather than assuming either number applies on its own.

The trial matches Housecall Pro's, 14 days with no credit card, though Jobber runs yours on the Grow plan. The annual terms are where the two part company, since a Jobber annual subscription is billed up front and cancelling mid-year does not refund it.

Housecall Pro

Housecall Pro, read from housecallpro.com/pricing on 7 September 2026
PlanMonthlyAnnual, per monthIncludedEach extra user
Basic$79$591 user includedNot offered on this plan
Essentials$189$1495 users included$100 a month each
Max$329$2998 users included$75 a month each

The per-user figures are the ones to sit with, and so are the card processing rates, which are covered in full on Housecall Pro pricing. On Essentials, a sixth user costs $100 a month. Against the $149 annual price that is two thirds of the plan again for one person, and against the $189 monthly price it is still over half. On Max the marginal user is $75. For a growing crew, the sixth hire costs more in software than each of the first five did.

Housecall Pro terms
Detail
Free trial14 days, no credit card required, cancel any time
RefundsSubscription fees are not prorated or refunded except as their agreement sets out
On terminationTheir terms state you receive no refund of fees unless explicitly stated otherwise
ChargebacksA non-refundable $25 fee for each chargeback, regardless of who wins the dispute
RenewalTheir terms state in capitals that all subscriptions automatically renew if not cancelled first
ContractsTheir pricing FAQ says no long-term contracts are required
Two of those rows are worth reading twice, and they are also the most repeated theme in Housecall Pro's negative reviews, covered on our Housecall Pro review. Their terms state that subscription fees are not refunded on termination unless explicitly stated otherwise, and that there is a non-refundable $25 fee for each chargeback regardless of the outcome of the dispute. That second one is unusual enough to be worth knowing before you hand over a card.

The other category

Jobber and Housecall Pro are both excellent at what they do, and what they do is the work after a customer says yes. Scheduling, dispatch, invoicing, payments, technician tracking. If your problem is operational chaos, this page has already answered your question and you can stop reading.

If your problem is that not enough customers are saying yes, neither core plan is built for that. Both sell call answering as a paid add-on, Jobber's Receptionist and Housecall Pro's CSR AI, which covers part of it. The enquiries you missed while under a house, the quotes sitting unanswered, the customers who would refer you if anyone asked: that is lead follow-up, and it is a different product.

One trade where the answer shifts noticeably is plumbing, because emergency work compresses the follow-up window to minutes. That is covered on CRM for plumbers.

Job management tools like Jobber call themselves CRMs too. What that word covers there, and what it does not, is on is Jobber a CRM.

GoHighLevel, for the other half of the problem
PlanMonthlyUsersWhat it does not do
Starter$97UnlimitedNo dispatch, no job costing, no technician scheduling
Unlimited$297UnlimitedNo dispatch, no job costing, no technician scheduling
The one genuine pricing advantage worth noting: GoHighLevel does not charge per seat. Every plan includes unlimited users, so a crew of ten costs the same as one person. That is the opposite of how Jobber and Housecall Pro work, and for a larger crew it is a real difference. Calls and texts are metered separately, covered on the phone system page.

Which one

The verdict

The honest summary is that Jobber and Housecall Pro are close on capability and the decision usually comes down to seat maths, card processing rates and which interface your crew will actually use. We settle all three on Jobber vs Housecall Pro. Neither will fix a lead problem, and we earn nothing from either, which is why this page spends its time on their pricing rather than pretending there is a third option that beats them at their own job.

Sole trader, want the cheapest real tool
Jobber Core at $29 a month annually, if one user is genuinely enough
Small crew, want scheduling and invoicing
Jobber Connect or Housecall Pro Essentials. Compare at your real seat count, not at one
Larger crew where per-seat pricing bites
Model it properly. Ten users on Housecall Pro Max is $299 plus $150, so $449, the same as Jobber Plus. Jobber Connect at ten is $229
Losing jobs to missed calls and dead quotes
Price their call answering add-ons against a follow-up platform that does calls, quotes and reviews together

If the leak is before the job, not during it

Unlimited users on every plan, which matters once you have a crew, and it catches the enquiries you cannot answer while working. Its calendars book appointments, but it does no dispatch, no job costing and no technician scheduling, so for most contractors it sits alongside Jobber or Housecall Pro rather than replacing them.

Common questions

What is the best CRM for contractors?

For scheduling, quoting and invoicing, Jobber and Housecall Pro are the two that publish clear pricing and are closely matched on capability. For catching leads and chasing quotes, a marketing platform does a different job. Which you need depends on whether your bottleneck is operations or enquiries.

How much does Jobber really cost?

From $29 a month for Core billed annually at one user, but the price varies by plan, billing term and seat tier at the same time. Connect for five users is $149 a month billed annually rather than $99, Plus does not start below five users at all, and the grid runs to $699 at the top. The full comparison is on our Jobber pricing page.

How much does Housecall Pro cost per user?

Basic includes one user at $59 a month annually. Essentials includes five at $149 and charges $100 a month for each additional user. Max includes eight at $299 and charges $75 for each extra. The per-user cost on Essentials is the steepest step in the range.

Does Housecall Pro refund?

Their terms state that subscription fees are not prorated or refunded except as their agreement sets out, and that on termination you receive no refund unless explicitly stated. They also publish a non-refundable $25 fee for each chargeback regardless of the outcome of the dispute.

Is there a contractor CRM that does not charge per user?

GoHighLevel includes unlimited users on every plan, which is unusual in this category and matters once you have a crew. The trade-off is that it does no dispatch, job costing or technician scheduling, so it addresses lead follow-up rather than replacing job management software.

Do Jobber and Housecall Pro have free trials?

Both offer 14 days with no credit card required, Jobber on its Grow plan. Jobber’s annual billing is the one to be careful with, since an annual subscription is billed up front and is non-refundable if you cancel mid-year.
