Email marketing in GoHighLevel
Email marketing is on every GoHighLevel plan, with unlimited contacts, and sending costs $0.675 per 1,000 emails. That pricing is the main difference. Mailchimp and most email tools charge by the size of your list. HighLevel charges by what you send, which makes a big list that you email occasionally very cheap to keep.
Research-led reviewThe author has not used this product. Built from public sources. What this means
The author has not used this product. Everything here comes from six public sources: the maker's own site, its pricing and refund terms, its changelog, its support forum, counted complaints across recent public reviews, and a like-for-like comparison against the nearest alternatives. We never claim experience we do not have.
Which badge a page carries is enforced in the site build, not just in editing. A page cannot use first-hand language unless it has declared itself a real-use review, so the badge and the writing cannot drift apart. The full method

You pay exactly what you would pay going direct. The maker pays us a share of their margin, not a surcharge on you.
We are never paid for a positive verdict, no maker sees a review before it publishes, and we publish verdicts recommending against products we could earn from. Commission rates never influence which products we cover or how we rank them. Full disclosure
Independent comparison. We are an affiliate of some platforms named here. We do not speak for HighLevel or Mailchimp, and nothing on this page is an official statement by any of them. Figures come from each maker's own published pages on the date shown, and we correct them when they change.

What it costs
| Item | Price | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Sending with LC Email | $0.675 per 1,000 emails | Every plan. No free allowance is published |
| Email validation | $2.50 per 1,000 checks | Optional |
| Dedicated IP | $59 a month | Unlimited and Agency Pro only, with volume requirements to qualify |
| Dedicated sending domain | No charge published | A subdomain plus SPF and DKIM records |
| Bring your own Mailgun or SMTP | Your provider’s price | Still supported |
Work it through for a real business. A list of 10,000 people emailed once a week is around 43,000 emails a month, which is about $29 at HighLevel's rate. Those charges come out of the account wallet on top of the plan, the same way text messages and calls do on the phone system.
The dedicated IP at $59 a month is not something most businesses need. HighLevel recommends it only at around 50,000 emails a week or more, and a sub-account has to show real volume to qualify. It is also unavailable on the $97 Starter plan.
What you get
| Detail | |
|---|---|
| Builder | Drag and drop, with text, image, button, video, product, RSS and custom HTML blocks |
| Templates | Industry templates, and your own saved as reusable layouts |
| AI writing | Content AI drafts copy, up to five variations, billed at $0.0945 per 1,000 words unless on AI Employee |
| A/B testing | Subject line or content, not both at once, up to six variants, winner sent to the rest automatically |
| Stats | Sent, unique opens, unique clicks, click rate, unsubscribes, orders and revenue |
| Sending caps | New accounts ramp from 250 a day to 10,000 by day seven, then 25,000 a day on the shared domain |
The builder is a standard drag and drop editor with the blocks listed above, and AI drafting is billed as Content AI unless you are on an AI Employee plan. The A/B test is the feature worth using from week one. Test the subject line on a slice of the list, and HighLevel sends the winner, by open or click rate, to everybody else.
Deliverability
Without a dedicated sending domain, your emails go out from a shared HighLevel domain with your address rewritten, which looks less trustworthy to inbox providers and to readers. Setting one up takes a subdomain such as mail.yourbrand.com plus SPF and DKIM records at your DNS provider, and HighLevel says it can take up to 24 hours to take effect. The domain setup guide walks through the records.
New accounts also warm up. Sending starts at 250 emails a day and reaches 10,000 by day seven, then 25,000 a day on the shared domain. If you are moving a large list across, plan the first fortnight around those numbers rather than sending to everyone on day one.

Campaigns and workflows
A campaign is a one-off send to a list or a smart list, such as a newsletter. A workflow email is sent automatically when something happens, such as a form fill, a booking or a missed call. The second kind is where HighLevel pulls ahead of a standalone email tool, because the trigger can be anything in the CRM, including events a Mailchimp account never sees, like a text reply or a pipeline stage change. The workflows page covers how those are built.
Against Mailchimp
| Tool | Price | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Mailchimp Essentials | From $13 a month | Priced by contact count |
| Mailchimp Standard | From $20 a month | Up to 500 contacts at that price |
| GoHighLevel | $0.675 per 1,000 sends, on top of the plan | Unlimited contacts on every plan, priced by what you send |
For a small business with a few hundred contacts that only needs a newsletter, Mailchimp is cheaper and simpler, and we would say so. The picture changes as the list grows, because contact-based pricing climbs with every subscriber while HighLevel's does not. It changes again if you would otherwise pay separately for SMS, a CRM and a booking tool, which is the sum on the pricing page. For the broader verdict, read the GoHighLevel review, and for other platforms that bundle email, see the alternatives.
Unlimited contacts, priced by what you send
Import your list on the trial, set up the sending domain first, and run one A/B tested campaign. Sends during the trial still bill from the wallet at the same $0.675 per 1,000.

Common questions
Does GoHighLevel have email marketing?
Yes. "Email and SMS marketing" is in the core feature list on HighLevel’s pricing page, so it is on all three plans. You get a drag and drop builder, templates, A/B testing and campaign stats, and emails can be sent as one-off campaigns or from workflows.
How much does GoHighLevel charge per email?
$0.675 per 1,000 emails through LC Email, on every plan. Email validation is $2.50 per 1,000 checks if you choose to use it. HighLevel does not publish a free sending allowance, so every send is billed.
Is there a limit on how many emails GoHighLevel can send?
New accounts ramp up from 250 emails a day to 10,000 by day seven. After that the cap is 25,000 a day on the shared domain. A dedicated sending domain raises the cap to 550,000 a day in HighLevel’s table, though the same article says to contact support past 450,000.
Do I need a dedicated sending domain in GoHighLevel?
It is optional but recommended. Without one, emails go out through a shared HighLevel domain. Setting one up means adding a subdomain such as mail.yourbrand.com and its SPF and DKIM records, and HighLevel publishes no charge for it.
Can I use Mailgun or my own SMTP with GoHighLevel?
Yes. LC Email is built on Mailgun and is the default, but you can still connect your own Mailgun account or another SMTP provider such as SendGrid.
Is GoHighLevel cheaper than Mailchimp?
For a large list it usually is, because HighLevel prices email by what you send rather than how many contacts you store. The plan itself is $97 a month though, so for a small list and nothing else, Mailchimp’s entry plans cost less.
