Trials
The Kajabi free trial
Kajabi publishes two different answers. Its pricing page advertises "1 month, on us", while its help centre states a maximum of 14 days and says extensions are not available. Both were live on 3 September 2026 and neither is marked promotional or out of date. Plan for 14 days, treat anything longer as a bonus, and put the date in your calendar, because a card is required and the trial converts on its own.
Research-led reviewThe author has not used this product. Built from public sources. What this means
The author has not used this product. Everything here comes from six public sources: the maker's own site, its pricing and refund terms, its changelog, its support forum, counted complaints across recent public reviews, and a like-for-like comparison against the nearest alternatives. We never claim experience we do not have.
Which badge a page carries is enforced in the site build, not just in editing. A page cannot use first-hand language unless it has declared itself a real-use review, so the badge and the writing cannot drift apart. The full method
We earn a commission if you buy through links on this page, at no extra cost to you.How this works
You pay exactly what you would pay going direct. The maker pays us a share of their margin, not a surcharge on you.
We are never paid for a positive verdict, no maker sees a review before it publishes, and we publish verdicts recommending against products we could earn from. Commission rates never influence which products we cover or how we rank them. Full disclosure
Independent comparison. We are an affiliate of some platforms named here. We do not speak for Kajabi, Systeme.io or ClickFunnels, and nothing on this page is an official statement by any of them. Figures come from each maker's own published pages on the date shown, and we correct them when they change.
The short version
- The conflict is Kajabi’s own, not a rumour. We quote both pages below.
- Bulk contact import is disabled during the trial, so you cannot test a migration.
- A card is required and an authorisation hold is placed at signup.
- The 30 day refund window is the more reliable protection, and it starts at first charge.
Fourteen days or thirty?
| Page | Where | What it says |
|---|---|---|
| Marketing page | kajabi.com/pricing | "Try Kajabi for 1 month, on us!", described as a 30-day free trial |
| Support documentation | help.kajabi.com, trial information | "Kajabi offers a maximum free trial period of 14 days", and states that extensions are not available once the period ends |
Our advice is to plan for the shorter number, for a simple reason: the help centre is the document that governs what support will tell you when you ask for more time, and it says plainly that extensions are not available. A marketing page is not a policy.
If you are offered 30 days through somebody's affiliate link, that may well be real, and it may be a promotion Kajabi runs through partners. What you should not do is build a 30 day evaluation plan on it and discover on day 15 that you have been charged.
What is switched off during the trial
This is the part nobody mentions and it matters more than the length. Kajabi's help centre lists features that are restricted while you are trialling:
- Bulk contact importing is not available
- Custom email domains cannot be set up
- Site-wide email template editing is restricted
- Some automations, including sending certificates and coupons, are blocked
- Contacts can still be added organically through form submissions
Think about what that means in practice. You are evaluating a $179 a month platform to replace something you already run. The obvious test is to bring your list across and see how it handles it. That test is not available to you. You can add contacts organically through form submissions, which is fine for a demonstration and useless for a migration rehearsal.
The custom email domain restriction compounds it. Deliverability is one of the things worth testing before committing to a platform, and you cannot properly test sending from your own domain until you are paying.
The card, and the hold
| Term | Detail |
|---|---|
| Card required | Yes. An authorisation hold is placed at signup |
| If you cancel in time | No bill, and the authorisation hold does not become a charge |
| If you do not | The trial converts to a paid subscription automatically |
| Extensions | Their help centre states extensions are not available |
An authorisation hold is not a charge, and it is worth knowing the difference because people panic about it. Your bank shows a pending amount, the money is not taken, and if you cancel before the trial ends the hold expires without becoming a charge. Kajabi's documentation says this explicitly.
What it does mean is that cancelling is your job and nobody will remind you. Put the end date in a calendar on the day you sign up, not the week you mean to decide.
What happens after
| Plan | Monthly | Annual, per month | Contacts |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | $179 | $143 | 2,500 |
| Growth | $249 | $199 | 25,000 |
| Pro | $499 | $399 | 100,000 |
Making the trial count
| When | Do this |
|---|---|
| Day 1 | Put the end date in your calendar, then build one course with three real lessons |
| Day 2 | Build the sales page and the checkout, and buy your own product with a test card |
| Day 3 | Set up one automation, and watch what a student actually sees |
| Day 4 | Decide on the student experience alone. It is the thing you are paying the premium for |
| Before day 14 | Cancel, or accept you are buying it. Do not drift past this |
Notice what is not in that list: importing contacts, testing deliverability, or rehearsing a migration. You cannot do those, so do not plan the trial around them. Judge the thing you can actually judge, which is whether the course experience is worth its premium: $82 a month over ClickFunnels, and the whole $179 over a free plan.

A free plan, rather than a trial with a clock on it
Systeme.io's free plan has no end date, no card and no authorisation hold, and it does let you import contacts. It is a less polished product than Kajabi. It is a much better way to find out whether your offer sells before anything is at stake.

If you want a trial with a guarantee behind it
ClickFunnels also gives 14 days, but publishes one number rather than two, and backs it with a 30 day money-back guarantee. At $97 against Kajabi's $179 it is also the cheaper mistake if you get it wrong.

Common questions
How long is the Kajabi free trial?
Kajabi publishes two answers. Its pricing page advertises "1 month, on us", while its help centre states a maximum of 14 days and says extensions are not available. Both were live on 3 September 2026, so plan for 14 days and treat anything longer as a bonus.
Do I need a credit card for the Kajabi trial?
Yes. A card is required and an authorisation hold is placed at signup. The hold is not a charge, and Kajabi’s documentation states that if you cancel before the trial ends the hold does not convert into one.
Can I extend the Kajabi free trial?
Kajabi’s help centre states that extensions are not available once the trial period ends. Some affiliates advertise longer trials through their own links, which may be genuine partner promotions, but nothing in Kajabi’s documentation supports extending a trial already running.
What can’t I do during the Kajabi trial?
Bulk contact importing is disabled, custom email domains cannot be set up, site-wide email template editing is restricted, and some automations including certificates and coupons are blocked. The bulk import restriction is the significant one, since it stops you rehearsing a migration.
What happens when the Kajabi trial ends?
It converts to a paid subscription automatically unless you cancel, starting at $179 a month for Basic. Kajabi’s terms then promise a full no-questions-asked refund within 30 days of that first charge, which is a more reliable safety net than the trial itself.
Is there a Kajabi free plan?
No, only a trial. Systeme.io is the only platform in this category with a permanent free tier, and unlike the Kajabi trial it allows contact imports, which makes it a more honest test of whether a platform fits your business.
