This is where the plan decision actually gets made, and it is not where the pricing page points you. The obvious reading is that you upgrade when your list grows past 2,500 contacts. The common reality is that you upgrade because you launched a bonus offer, a free mini-course and a paid community, and hit five.
The step from Basic to Growth costs $70 a month and takes products from 5 to 50, which is a large jump for the money and the reason most established course businesses sit on Growth rather than Basic.
What a course includes
The pricing model here is genuinely favourable to a single successful course, and that is worth saying plainly because most course platforms are the opposite. Teachable caps students at 100 on its entry plan. Kajabi does not cap them at all, so success does not trigger an upgrade the way it does elsewhere.
What you get around the course is the argument for the price: video hosting included, drip scheduling, assessments, a course player widely regarded as the best in this category, and a mobile app your students can use. Nothing on this page disputes that Kajabi makes the nicest course.

Two things stand out. Teachable's entry plan caps students at 100 and takes 7.5% of sales, which makes it the most expensive option in this table for anything successful, despite the lowest sticker. And Systeme.io's free plan runs one course with unlimited students and no fee, which is a genuinely serious option for a first course.
The honest counterweight is what those cheaper options do not have. We counted complaint themes across 168 low-star Kajabi reviews and support was the largest by a distance, so this is not a page arguing Kajabi is flawless. It is a page saying the course itself is the best of these, which it is.

Not directly. Students are unlimited on every plan and are constrained only by your contact allowance, which is 2,500 on Basic. That means one successful course does not push you up a tier the way it does on platforms that cap students.
Does Kajabi charge a fee on course sales?
Only if you use your own payment processor: 2% on Basic, 1% on Growth and 0.5% on Pro. Using Kajabi Payments removes the platform fee but charges card processing of about 2.7% to 2.9% plus 30 cents, which is ordinary card pricing.
Which Kajabi plan do I need for courses?
Basic if you will sell fewer than five things in total. Growth as soon as you approach that, because Basic works out at $343 per product a year against Growth’s $48 if you use the allowance. Products, not students, are what push you up.
