Add-ons

GoHighLevel upgrades: which add-ons are actually worth it

Most GoHighLevel add-ons are worth skipping until a client is paying for them. The clearest example is premium support at $500 a month, when 24/7 chat, Zoom and ticket support are already included free on every tier. The branded client portal at $49 is the one that most often earns its keep.

The author has not used this product. Everything here comes from six public sources: the maker's own site, its pricing and refund terms, its changelog, its support forum, counted complaints across recent public reviews, and a like-for-like comparison against the nearest alternatives. We never claim experience we do not have.

Which badge a page carries is enforced in the site build, not just in editing. A page cannot use first-hand language unless it has declared itself a real-use review, so the badge and the writing cannot drift apart. The full method

You pay exactly what you would pay going direct. The maker pays us a share of their margin, not a surcharge on you.

We are never paid for a positive verdict, no maker sees a review before it publishes, and we publish verdicts recommending against products we could earn from. Commission rates never influence which products we cover or how we rank them. Full disclosure

The short version

  • Support is already 24/7 and free. Paying $500 a month for it needs a very specific reason.
  • The $49 branded client portal does most of what the $497 app does, for a tenth.
  • AI is per sub-account, so add-ons scale with clients rather than with you.
  • Rule of thumb: if a client is not paying for it, do not switch it on.

The ones worth paying for

Add-ons that usually earn their keep
Add-onCostWhen it is worth it
Branded client portal app$49 / monthPer sub-account, so it scales with paying clients. Covers most of what agencies actually want from a branded app.
Dedicated email IP$59 / monthOnly at real sending volume. Below roughly 100,000 emails a month a dedicated IP usually hurts deliverability rather than helping, because it has no sending reputation.
Workflow Pro$10 to $50 / monthCheap, and it caps what premium workflow actions can cost you at $0.01 each. Worth it the moment automation volume is real.
AI Employee, on a paying client$50 or $97 / monthPer sub-account. Fine when that client is billed for it, expensive the moment it is switched on by default.

The ones usually not worth it

Add-ons that rarely earn their keep
Add-onCostWhy to think twice
Premium support$500 / monthStandard support is already 24/7 and included, covering live chat, a Zoom room and tickets. Read the support page before paying six thousand a year for a queue position.
White label mobile app$497 / monthThe same price as the entire Agency Pro plan it sits on. Only sensible if the app is genuinely part of what you sell.
HIPAA compliance$297 / monthEssential if you handle protected health information, pure cost if you do not. This is a compliance decision, not a features one.
AI across every sub-account$97 × clientsTen clients is $970 a month. Enable per client, and only where they are paying for it.
The one rule that covers all of them. Every add-on here is priced either per agency or per sub-account. The per-sub-account ones scale with your client count, so they are only ever safe when a client is being billed for that specific thing. Switching any of them on globally is how a $297 plan quietly becomes a $1,500 bill.

The order to buy them in

  1. Workflow Pro, if your automation volume is real. It is $10 to $50 and it caps a cost that otherwise runs unbounded at a cent per action.
  2. The $49 branded portal, when a client asks for an app. It answers the question for a tenth of the price of the real one.
  3. AI, per client, when that client is paying for it. Never as a default across the account.
  4. A dedicated IP, only once volume justifies it. Under about 100,000 sends a month you are usually better off on the shared pool.
  5. Everything else, when something forces it. HIPAA because of a client's industry, the branded app because it is in a contract.

And before any of it, check whether the tier is right. Moving from Unlimited to Agency Pro at $200 a month buys markup rebilling, which turns several of these from costs into margin. That is usually a better first purchase than any add-on on this page.

Already a customer looking at upgrades

Worth doing the tier question first. If markup rebilling would turn your add-on spend into a client-billable line, that is the upgrade to make before any of these.

Common questions

Is GoHighLevel premium support worth $500 a month?

Rarely. Standard support is already 24/7 and included on every tier, covering live chat, a Zoom room and support tickets. Before paying $6,000 a year, check whether your problem is queue position or the permission issue that stops sub-account users reaching support at all.

What GoHighLevel add-ons are charged per sub-account?

The branded client portal at $49 and AI Employee at $50 or $97 are per enabled location. That means they scale with your client count, so ten clients on AI Employee Unlimited is $970 a month rather than $97.

Do I need a dedicated email IP?

Only at real volume, typically above roughly 100,000 sends a month. Below that a fresh dedicated IP has no sending reputation and usually delivers worse than the shared pool, so you would be paying $59 a month to hurt your deliverability.

Is the white label mobile app worth $497 a month?

Only if the app is genuinely part of what you sell. It costs the same as the entire Agency Pro plan it sits on top of. For most agencies the $49 branded client portal answers the same client request at a tenth of the price.

Which upgrade should I buy first?

Usually none of them. Check whether moving to Agency Pro is the better purchase, because markup rebilling turns several of these add-on costs into billable client lines rather than expenses you absorb.
